A few little known features + new features

April 23rd, 2008 by Lance Smith

Several quick updates for the community today and then I wanted to point out a few features that most of the community seems to bypass.

First, everyone should have seen a few minor updates rolled out a few days ago.  Some of the updates are listed below:

  • ‘Report Abuse’ Button on GameStrata Answers, PLEASE USE THIS!
  • New Answers Guideline link, full list of guidelines in the FAQs.
  • Full content of profile comments/private messages in email alerts.
  • Maximum daily Questions, total number based on GamerQ level.
  • Switch default Clan tabs for better viewing.
  • Answer Voting (Thumbs Up/Down) - If an answer is voted down enough, it will be greyed out and no points awarded.
  • Widen Forums area.

We are still making some fixes on the fly but most changes are there to help filter out any offending content posted on the site. We continue to see a very select anount of users abuse the system for the rest of the community. The methods and activity are very predictable so please use the “Report Abuse” tools and answer voting to remove content you feel should not be part of your community.

Next up, a few features that get overlooked:

1) List of gamers playing a particular game:

- You can access a full listing of all gamers playing a particular game within your ‘My Current Games’ section. Simply click on the title name (it will be displayed as a link) and that will display a full page dedicated to users who have also mapped that current game.

2) Xbox Live - Add a freind to Xbox Live friend list

- You can easily add any GameStrata user who has provided a valid Xbox Gamertag to your Xbox friends list by one simple click. Within a user’s MyStrata page, simply navigate to the Xbox Live overview and click on the link that states ‘Add XYZUSER to my friends’. Image attached below as an example.

  1. RROD Says:

Great new features guys. I didn’t know about the gamers list. I’ll have to check that out. It’s nice to see the site growing and updating before our eyes. Keep it up!

  2. LordRune Says:

Very awesome. I have to say, I’ve only been on GS for two weeks or so now, but I’d go so far as to call it exciting watching the site changing and growing like this. You guys are doing a great job, and whatever you do don’t stop.
