The Gaming Family

May 5th, 2008 by Barry Dorf

I am a huge Raider fan, and whenever I meet another Raider fan there is this special unspoken bond we share.  We remember the good days, are suffering through the bad days, but believe we will regain our past glory.  Gaming is truly a unique hobby, or profession for some, that carries this same characteristic.  When your significant other drags you to a dinner party or get together that you dread and you meet another gamer and can talk about GTA IV or your newest achievement earned, all is good in the world.  You do not care who is around you listening or judging you, you are lost in the moment of gaming bliss.

Props to VenusDoom13 who gave me this thought inside our blatant butt kissing forum post:  http://www.gamestrata.com/forums/show/1070-blatant-butt-kissing?page=2   Gamers are a huge family.  Sure you have some obnoxious cousins and a crazy uncle or two (RROD and Irishbrewed), but for the most part it feels good to be with your family.  The GameStrata game nights have shown that.  Sure there is smak talk and yelling, it is competitive while staying fun.  So I wanted to thank you and encourage you all to keep it up.  We are having a blast seeing the engagement and are looking forward to bringing you more cool features and more supported games.

We take your suggestions very serious, so keep em coming.  Now when is that PS3 COD4 gaming night, I cant wait to show off my 1/16 kill to death ratio.

  1. RROD Says:

Thanks for the props………..I think? You guys are like family. This is the first gaming website where there seems to be a sense of friendship and comraderie. Although I’m sure I have taken shots at each and everyone of you, it’s all in good natured fun. Now that I have made myself vomit with the “you like me, you really like me” speech, why don’t you all just DIE!

Drink the milk, and welcome ol’ RROD with open Xbox trays.

  2. IrishBrewed Says:

your darn right, FAMILY, and I stopped caring about what folks think a long time ago, well hell I married a anti-game activist, well so it seems, but if she can’t keep me from what I love doing then no one can…. As for the whole Raider thing, well your a tough man, who has seen many Hard Days, thats foresure….One thing I love about the Raiders is when my Cowboys play them, can you say “W”!

By the way I can’t stand RROD

    Milk Man,
    Irish

  3. VenusDoom13 Says:

That was incredible, and exactly true. I have never been on a website where I felt as close to the people here this fast. I do consider you guys my family, and that’s the way it should be

  4. Baudolino Says:

RRoD and Irish are the best weird uncles in the world. and I

  5. LordRune Says:

Damn straight. When I played my first game night I never expected things to take off like they have, but now I have a stable of assorted strange gaming friends. It’s awesome. When you join a website, you always hope to establish the kind of camraderie I’ve found here but its very rare for it to actually happen. Good show, GS. Good show.

As for crazy uncles Irish and RROD, well… all insanity aside they’ve taken me under their wings and made joining this community both a positive and enjoyable experience. Thanks, guys! ( Ugh… too sappy. Better say this for RROD and Irish: You guys still suck. )

  6. Weezerzeke Says:

Unfortunately, RROD is that uncle who touched you the wrong way and told you to keep it a secret.

  7. Eric Says:

    RAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDERRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Dude, be there on Sept 8th in Lot C and look for an Alegate flag, we be partying before to MNF game. Props, dude.
